There are a wide variety of study designs that can be very perplexing. This course helped me learn about these common traits, the fundamental ideas behind ecological and cross-sectional studies, and when it is suitable to employ each.

Stanford Introduction to Food and Health offered by Stanford University, 2020.

We are confronted with worldwide epidemics of obesity, Type 2 Diabetes, and other primarily diet-related diseases. To address these public health crises, we desperately need to investigate novel approaches to promoting healthy eating. There is compelling evidence that global increases in the consumption of highly processed foods, combined with societal shifts away from home food preparation, have contributed to high rates of preventable chronic diseases. This training provided me with the knowledge and practical skills that I need to start helping people optimise their eating habits.
